2019 Christmas Parade of the Ozarks

"Christmas Vacation"

Saturday, November 30, 2019 @ 6:00 PM 

 "Christmas Vacation" comes to Springdale on Saturday, November 30th starting at 6:00 PM.  The parade will begin at Parsons Stadium and will conclude at Harris Street where the parade will turn right (North) and disperse along Johnson Street.  Rain-out date will be December 2, if needed.  If you have any questions, please contact the office at 479-756-0464.  Entry forms can be faxed to 479-756-6582 or emailed to Laura@rodeooftheozarks.org

 

 Entry Preparation 

 

  •  All parade participants are required to complete an entry form by November 27 at 5:00 PM.
  •  All vetted entries will be given a number to display on the passenger's side 
  •  There is only ONE Santa and he is represented by last year's President's winner at the end of the parade.  If the winner from the previous year does not provide a Santa, Rodeo staff will appoint one.
  •   An entry may not include any flags, insignia, banners, images, or content that includes profanity, lewdness, illegal drugs, violence, obscenity, hate, racism, or that is vulgar or sexually explicit, insulting or offensive to any ethnic, religious, political or other identifiable group or individual, or that may incite violence or other disruptive behaviors not conducive to the celebratory theme as determined by Rodeo of the Ozarks Personnel.  
  •  No floats over 14 Ft. tall
  •  All entries must have lights 
  •  No performances, which will halt the parade's movement will be allowed.  Walking units must be able to sustain the parade's tempo.

 

 

 Judging/Line Up/Parade 

 

  • All entries must be on the grounds at 4:30 PM.  This will allow enough time to get entries lined up in an orderly fashion and allow the parade to begin on time.  The parade leaves the Rodeo grounds at 6:00 PM. Parade numbers will be passed out prior to the start on Saturday.
  • All floats will enter the grounds from the South entrance on Highway 265 and will form 3 lines in front of the office to depart from the Emma Street entrance. 
  • Car clubs will stage on the Rodeo Grounds (Please call the office at 479-756-0464).  Children may be dropped off at the Rodeo Grounds entering from the Parking Lot Entrance on Highway 265.  Do not enter the Main Entrance on Emma Street.  

 

 

 Judging 

 

  •  Judging will take place during the parade route.  Your float will need to be set up and ready by the start of the parade if you plan to be judged.  There are no exceptions.  Winners will be notified the next week following the parade.  
  •  Vehicles in the staging area may not be left unattended at any time!  An adult must be with the vehicle in the staging area in the event the vehicle must be moved.  
  •  ABSOLUTELY NO THROWING OF CANDY OR ANY OBJECTS!  This will not be tolerated, and your float or entry will be pulled from the parade.  You can, however, have people walking beside your entry handing out wrapped candy to parade spectators viewing from the curb.  All items that are passed out must be approved by Rodeo Personnel.  
  •  A distance of 2-3 car lengths should be maintained between parade units at all times.  Vehicles should travel at approximately 2 miles per hour (walking speed).  The adult in charge of the unit is responsible for keeping the unit moving along the parade route.  No entry may stop the parade for performances of any kind-forward motion must be maintained.  
  •  Open flames, such as campfires, are strictly prohibited.
  •  Please note Emma Avenue will be closed to all traffic beginning at 5:45. 
  •  Equestrian Units-you cannot ride your horses back to the grounds.  You need to stage your horse trailers along Johnson Street.  MUST HAVE PROOF OF NEGATIVE UTD (COGGINS). 
  •  If weather becomes a factor, we will make announcements on the radio and answering machine here at the stadium.  
  •  Refreshments and bathroom facilities will be available in the Rodeo Community Center beginning at 4:30 PM.
