Springdale Benevolent Foundation Scholarships

General Information & Criteria

The Springdale Benevolent Foundation will be awarded annually to a high school senior who plans to enroll as a full-time (minimum of 12 hours a semester) student in agriculture or agriculture related studies and is committed to pursuing a career in agriculture or an agriculture-related field.  

Scholarship funds may only be used toward the student's tuition, books, and/or room and board by the institution.  Scholarship recipients are not restricted from pursuing and accepting other forms of financial aid, assistantship, scholarships or tuition waiver.

Recipient must have maintained a 3.0 grade average during senior year in high school.  Also, the recipient must maintain a 3.0 grade average based on a 4-point grade system to maintain scholarship.  At the beginning of each semester, the recipients will be required to supply the scholarship committee their previous semester grades and their current semesters class schedule before funds will be released.

Must be accepted for enrollment at an accredited college, university, or community college.

Academic major must be agriculture related

Required:  

A typed essay (minimum of 250 words) stating the reason(s) you want to pursue a career in agriculture or an agriculture related field; potential to make a significant contribution to society demonstrated by extracurricular activities, (i.e. local 4-H, FFA, employment history, community awards, etc.) and goals & future plans must accompany application.

2 Letters of References (not family members)

Immediate family members of the Springdale Benevolent Foundation or the Springdale Benevolent Amusement Association will not be eligible to apply. 

The Springdale Benevolent Foundation Scholarship will be made without discrimination in relation to race, creed, religion, sex, age, national origin or handicap.

Dusty Richards Memorial Scholarship

General information & Criteria

Dusty Richards was a Board Member and past President of the Rodeo of the Ozarks.  He wrote numerous Western Novels, won several writing awards including the Spur Awards from the Western Writers of America and was inducted into the Arkansas Writer's Hall of Fame in 2004.  In 2015, he released his 150th book The Mustanger and The Lady, which was adapted for the screen and debuted as Painted Woman at the Bentonville Film Festival.  Dusty Richards passed away in January 2018 due to complications from an automobile accident. 

This Scholarship will be awarded annually to a Springdale, Arkansas Senior (at large) who plans to enroll as a full-time (minimum 12 hours per semester) student in agriculture or agriculture-related studies, English, or Literature.  Recipient must be a resident of Washington County.
