"Wild Horse" Races

This another kids pre-rodeo event! The wild horses are bouncy horses, so don't get too worried, parents! This event is for ages 8-10 (age at time of event.) Four contestants will go at one time and the one that crosses the finish line will compete for a final each night to have the top three winners.

Mutton Bustin'

Hang On! It will soon be time for the 2022 Mutton Bustin Championship. Mutton Bustin’ has grown to be one of the most popular events at the Rodeo of the Ozarks. This event is for little cowboys and cowgirls for 5 – 7 year olds under 55 pounds. The little ones will ride a sheep out of a bucking chute and into the rodeo arena like a cowboy in a bucking event. They will be scored on time, form and show! All the contestants receive trophies. Participants will be required to wear a long sleeve shirt and jeans. Participants will be required to sit up straight, no “choke holds”.

Mutton Bustin begins at 6:30 p.m. before the Rodeo. The top riders each night will ride again during the rodeo performance to determine who advances to the finals on last night of the rodeo. A half-hour before, kids “meet the sheep” and will be outfitted in protective helmets. Then they will get their last minute instructions from organizers and their parents. Only 1 parent will be allowed in the arena with the participants. The event is limited to 25 children each night.
